About Heidi

A Passion for Yoga and Lifelong Learning

I have had the joy and honor of teaching yoga for 26 years. Yoga has deepened my awareness, presence, and ability to embrace the full spectrum of human experience—love, loss, illness, aging, vulnerability, growth, and change.

The physical practice stabilized my injury-prone body and improved my posture, while introspective practices nurtured a healthier relationship with myself and the world. Teaching yoga continues to inspire me as it constantly evolves, offering new ways to explore movement, breath, and awareness. Guiding You in Yoga for Real Life

My approach is rooted in self-compassion, functional movement, and personalized alignment. Instead of forcing the body into rigid shapes, I guide you toward regenerative, life-giving movement that fosters personal choice and agency—on the mat and into life.

Training and Influences

I completed my teacher training in 1999 with Mary Beth Markus at Desert Song Yoga in Phoenix, AZ. I am a certified yoga instructor (CYI), experienced registered teacher with a minimum of 500 training hours (E-RYT 500), and a Yoga Alliance continuing education provider (YACEP). Over the years, I have studied with remarkable teachers, including:

  • Yoga Philosophy and Therapeutics: Rama Jyoti Vernon, Doug Keller, Matthew J. Taylor PT, PhD, Erich Schiffmann, Donna Farhi, Suzi Hurley, Elise Miller

  • Yoga Nidra: Kamini Desai, Richard Miller

  • Fascia and Functional Movement: Tom Myers, Susi Hately

  • Primal Posture: Esther Gokhale, Kathleen Porter

  • Somatic Movement: Martha Peterson, James Knight, Susan Koenig

Continued Studies and Areas of Expertise

  • Yoga for the nervous system and joint health

  • Functional movement and fascia remodeling

  • Somatic principles for releasing long-held patterns

  • Natural alignment theory for posture and easeful movement

Join Me on the Journey

I am here to support your well-being and welcome you exactly as you are. Every class reflects my commitment as a lifelong student—to share the wisdom of movement, self-care, and self-compassion at every stage of life.

I would love to have you join me!

With loving-kindness,
Heidi
